Pebble Painter

A couple of times a year I find myself at Charles' charming cottage in Lulzworth Cove.  That's Charlie and  Alex right there on that out-crop over looking St. Oswald's bay
.

One of the highlights every time has to be 'Chris the Hippy'.  He perches himself on a rock by the cove and busies himself painting shells and pebbles, adorning them with patterns, pictures and sometimes poems. Tourists like to buy these wares, and it has to be said, at very reasonable prices.  He has a bespoke service as well and will paint anything that your heart so desires (within reason).  His trousers are caked in a multicoloured crust, several millimetres thick.  He achieves his specific and unique colour blends using these trousers as his palette.  He has the rigid-legged gait of cowboy; it's hard to imagine the trousers having much flex; though no one has ever seen him walk.

He lives in an inherited mansion on top of the hill and has a girlfriend (who drives him the short distance to work every day in a gleaming Audi).

    1. Hi Mrs Chris the hippy
I was wondering has your husband painted pebbles at lulworth cove for many years? I have a pebble that I cherish dated 1996 by 'Chris'

    2. yes he has - but due to covid and the disapproval of the Lulworth Estate he has had to stop
you can find him on Folksy if you google Lulworth Stone Painter.

  2. I also venture to Lulworth Cove, with the beauty of the coast line and the wonderful addition of Chris the marvellous painter of his wares to sell at extremely cheap prices than you could get at any other wonderful coast, with such intricate workmanship a craft to be jealous of.
I myself have also bought from him, and would tell anybody of the wonderful work and craft he does.
Now as I see it, his craft and art are absolutely nothing to do with where he either lives or anything to do with his wife.
If he has money, or doesn't have money! What has that to do with anything???
I have also seen this lovely gent dragging his work boxes along after himself both down the hill and back up the hill of the cove!
As to his attire being covered in paint, don't many people also wear uniforms to work?
His attire of noted painted jeans which he uses as a palette are just his work uniform, and makes him look all the more interesting and our kids love to see him there.
Please if you are going to blog about a person that many people see, have the decency to write down correct information, rather than making up stories to try to make your posts more interesting.
As for saying that no one has ever seen him walk, what a very silly and rather childish comment to make???
    Yours queryingly!?
