Incredible footage coming from cameras attached the rocket boosters of a space shuttle. Up and down 400 seconds and hitting 2924 mph. Thank you Culture Shock for finding it.

100 Days to Go... (EDITED)

I would like to apologise for the below post - as it write this we are halfway through the games. I have loved them and am loving them.  The only problem has been the negativity in the run up to them, which includes my cynical post that I penned over 100 days ago.  I got it wrong and am very happy to say this. 6/8/2012.

What I was promised  -  a zone crackling with aspiration, potential and energy...

...fused organic-nebular designs - futuristic and inspirational.

What I've got....

Pebble Painter

A couple of times a year I find myself at Charles' charming cottage in Lulzworth Cove.  That's Charlie and  Alex right there on that out-crop over looking St. Oswald's bay
.

One of the highlights every time has to be 'Chris the Hippy'.  He perches himself on a rock by the cove and busies himself painting shells and pebbles, adorning them with patterns, pictures and sometimes poems. Tourists like to buy these wares, and it has to be said, at very reasonable prices.  He has a bespoke service as well and will paint anything that your heart so desires (within reason).  His trousers are caked in a multicoloured crust, several millimetres thick.  He achieves his specific and unique colour blends using these trousers as his palette.  He has the rigid-legged gait of cowboy; it's hard to imagine the trousers having much flex; though no one has ever seen him walk.

He lives in an inherited mansion on top of the hill and has a girlfriend (who drives him the short distance to work every day in a gleaming Audi).

micro-music-making

There are some beautiful pieces of mini-hardware knocking around.

Here is Mixtape Alpha  -  a mini synth with some basic notes and effects that fits onto circuit board the same size as a standard tape cassette.  Sounds and effects are triggered in much the same way you would use a stylophone

This is Tristan Perich's 1-Bit Symphony .  It takes the microchip that the five movements are programmed on and houses it within the CD case, complete with headphone jack.  When the chip is triggered, you are hearing the composition at exactly the same time as it is being created as opposed to the playback of a previous recording.

Jean Michel Jarre.

Jean Michel Jarre is a cool guy. I really want to know more about this speaker he has helped to create. That's an iPad on the top to give you some scale in case you missed the handy ladder at the back of it.

It's from a selection of hyper-luxury goods referenced here.

Jean michel jarre is very cool indeed so i don't understand quite what's happened here as this speaker item is clearly unacceptable.

it also costs 300,000 guineas.
